In the sixth section of this Product Design Tutorial we selected an edge and projected as a line. In this section we will
show the result of using Pro/DESKTOP to redefine elements of the design proposal. The redefine option is a powerful creative tool and allows the designer to alter aspects of the solid model to make it more functionally efficient and aesthetically pleasing.

The snapshot opposite shows the original image for this section of the Product Design Tutorial, redefine.

  Snapshot 1
These snapshots show how the fillet radii of the handle can be redefined to produce a smoother transition from one surface to another.

The first snapshot shows how altering the loft path of the handle radically changes the aesthetic of the design.

  Snapshot 2
The second snapshot shows an increase in the size of the ellipse used to create a more functionally efficient handle grip.

  Snapshot 3
The following snapshotsillustrate how the Temperature Controller has changed position using the redefine option. The new position ensures the device is within finger reach of the user while holding the main handle.

The aim of this tutorial is to enhance your Pro/DESKTOP modelling skills to allow you to create a greater range of product designs. The following ALBUM illustrations show how detail can be added to create a convincing final proposal.
