The instructions in these tutorials refer to the Pro/DESKTOP interface and toolbars. The illustration below describes the main elements of the graphical interface and toolbars. To achieve the target design of the camera shown below you will need to access the drawing and solid modelling tools of Pro/DESKTOP. Please refer to this illustration to help you locate the tools and complete the instructions.

  Pro/DESKTOP Target Design screen

    .

Pro/DESKTOP utilises the Microsoft Windows User Interface. The same interface is used in many software products. Software commands are executed by selecting icons from the menu. The commands are selected by using the left mouse button. The following icons represent the drawing, editing and solid modelling commands available from the Design toolbar.

  Select lines:

Select lines enables you to select groups or individual lines to perform editing tasks such as delete.

  Select Constraints:

Select Constraints enables you to double left click on a dimension and access the Properties box. The Properties box allows you to change the dimension to a specific value.

  Select Workplane:

Select Worklane enables you to choose one of the three default workplanes which are Base, Lateral and Frontal. Each different workplane enables you to begin a design in a different orientation.

  Select Edge:

Select Edge enables you to change right angle edge into a round edge. By left clicking on the edge you can access the Feature menu and choose a radius value for the edge.

  Select Faces:

Select Faces enables you to select any flat surface of the 3D solid model to create a workplane and new sketch.

  Select Features:

Select Features enables you to pick a 3D solid feature. If you select the feature with a left click then right click and choose Synchronise browser you can edit the size of the feature.

  Select Parts:

Select Parts enables you to pick individual components of an assembly to reposition or edit them.

  Straight Line:

Select lines enables you to draw single lines. In this tutorial you will use this command to draw some of the components of the camera.

  Circle:

The Circle command enables you to draw a circle by left clicking and holding down the left mouse button. Drag the mouse to create a circle, then release the mouse to complete the command.

  Rectangle:

The Rectangle command enables you to create a rectangle by left clicking and dragging diagonally to expand the rectangle.

  Elipse:

The Ellipse command enables you to create an ellipse by left clicking and dragging the mouse to extend the major and minor axis of the ellipse.

  Arc or Fillet:

The Arc command enables you to create a fillet in a number of ways. The easiest way is to select the horizontal line of a right angle (it will turn red), then select the vertical line of the right angle. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse to create a fillet.

  Spline:

The Spline command enables you to create curvilinear shapes.

  Delete Line Segment:

Delete line segment acts as a pair of scissors and enables you to snip off any unwanted lines.

  Sketch Dimension:

The Sketch Dimension command enables you to add a dimension to a piece of geometry. To dimension a rectangle you must left click on a single line (it will turn red ). Select the opposite line and hold down the left mouse button, drag the mouse to extend the dimension line. Release the left mouse button to complete the command. You can then change the dimension to a specific size by selecting the Select Constraints icon.
